If all you know about kayak fishing came from watching a one-hour special on your http://www.Direct.TV/ outdoor channels you’ve got to get out there! There’s never been a better time than now to get outdoors and see what all the fuss is about – here are a few of our favorite destinations:
The Great Lakes – You wouldn’t think it but the great lakes are actually perfectly suited for Kayak Fishing. They’re heavily stocked and the cold winters actually keep the temperature out on the lake down so you won’t have to worry about overheating.
California Saltwater – There are tons of great spots all over CA to take out your kayak and be with nature. You won’t necessarily be alone as everyone and their brother has a kayak here but you might catch something great to hang on the wall.
South Carolina – South Carolina’s chock full of lakes and estuaries perfect for a leisurely day of kayak fishing. It’s cheap and easily accessible if you live anywhere in the southeast and many parts of the state enjoy warm weather way past when they should.

There are basically two ways to get kayak fishing equipment and they are renting and buying. There are pros and cons for both renting and buying but it all matters on whether you are going to be kayak fishing every weekend or every other month.

Renting your own equipment can be cheap at first if you are new to kayak fishing and would be the better choice. Renting will allow you to try out different paddle types so you can find one that best fits you. This way if you buy the wrong paddle you’re not stuck with it, just rent a different one. You will also be able to rent other equipment such as a kayak trailer and safety equipment.

There are also a few disadvantages to renting kayak fishing equipment. Over time it will be very expensive to keep renting so you will want to buy kayak fishing equipment if you are going to use it repeatedly. If your rental equipment breaks or gets damaged you may wind up buying it anyways. If you bought your own paddles you wont have to worry about damaging someone’s paddles.

When it comes to kayak fishing in USA vacation spots, camping or hotels, Alaska kayak fishing trips cannot be surpassed. The fishing is outstanding, the scenery is breathtaking and camping in Alaska is as close as you will ever get to nature. For those who are a bit fearful of camping, there are hotels available in Alaska.

Kayaks make it possible for anglers to blend in with surroundings and make a quiet approach without startling the fish. Kayaks equally allow for fishing in remote places that are difficult to reach from the bank or by boat; In addition, they make it easy to move around in the water. Alaska has many great areas for good kayak fishing that are nestled among the most gorgeous settings and views that you could ever imagine, not to mention the wildlife.

There are both tent and RV campgrounds tucked along Alaska-s roads that are located in the forest or near towns and national parks. Many of the campgrounds have facilities including stores, showers, water and electrical hookups with sewage dumps. For the less brave, there is lodging available; rustic cabins, vacation rental homes and even some of the most luxurious hotels are accessible along the highways and in numerous Alaskan towns.

If you love the thrill of the open waterways, and taking a kayak getaway, there is nothing better than the ocean for this adventure. The ocean is probably where you are going to get the biggest waves, and the most turbulence, so for those that are looking for a more challenging paddle experience, the ocean is the choice for you to make when going kayaking. If you want more of a tranquil and leasure packed adventure, going out on the lake is probably where you are going to find the least amount of waves, and the calmest waters. So, if you just want to stroll along and enjoy the scenic views, going down the lake is the best choice for these kayakers. And, for those who want something in between, the choice to take a river kayak tour is the best choice for you to go with. There is going to be a mixture of calmer waters, as well as a few high tide waves when you are kayaking in the river. So, you will get the combination, which is less extreme than the ocean kayak ride, but a little more challenging than a lake kayaking trip you will make.

Any time that you go kayak fishing, you need to maintain property and boundary etiquette. In order to do this, you need to respect other people who are out on the water. If you have etiquette while fishing, the experience will be more enjoyable. Not only that, but you will be less likely to cause a fight.

The need for proper etiquette starts on the launching ramp. Make sure to wait for your turn. Have your equipment ready beforehand. This way, you can quickly unload your kayak and equipment.Didn-t catch that? This explains it. Once you have unloaded your gear, secure your kayak and park your vehicle. After that, get in your kayak and leave the ramp. It is not a social area. You should already have a system in place so you can get done fast.

When on the water, you need to maintain certain boundaries. Keep out of reach of another person-s casting distance. You should give others plenty of room. If someone is in your favorite spot, ask them if they would mind sharing. If they don-t want to share, find a different area. Not only that, but make sure that you don-t cut in front of others who are trying to fish.
