IGFA Fishing Seminars

The International Game Fish Association will be presenting one hour seminars several times during the day on Saturday May 17 at the Lovers Key location. These clinics will be geared toward the beginning angler, ages 6 to 16. There will be no cost for these clinics.

Some of the topics covered in the seminars will include:

  1. Introduction to IGFA, their purposes and goals.
  2. Discussion of fishing equipment, including the various types of rods and reels, lines and tackle. There will also be a discussion of how the equipment is used.
  3. Basic knots are discussed and taught. All participants will have a chance to tie each knot.
  4. Fishing ethics are discussed, including proper catch and release techniques. This will include correct fish handling methods, how to measure a fish, and how to properly remove a hook with injuring the fish.
  5. Finally, fishing safety and Florida fishing regulations will be discussed.

These seminars will be presented at 9:30 am, 11:00 am, and at 2:00 pm. Only 30 people can participate in each seminar, so contact Brad Walden at either 239 936-8072, ext. 110 or bwalden@bsamail.org to register.
